The Innovation department at Trelleborg Offshore acts as an incubator for new product families, for both new and existing markets. Our fully audited phase gate process promotes the market integration of new products from ideas through to fully deployed solutions in line with industry standards such as DNV-RP-A203 and API 17Q.
From facilitating idea generation sessions using TRIZ (Theory of inventive problem solving) and VAVE (Value analysis, value engineering) with our customers to implementing manufacturing improvement techniques such as DFM (Design for manufacture), DFA (Design for assembly) and FMECA (Failure mode effects criticality analysis) and liaising with 3rd party approval houses, we are the industry experts in deploying bespoke ancillary equipment for the offshore energy sectors.
Our in-house project management capabilities routinely manage the full verification, validation and accreditation of products with full computational analysis, detailed analytical calculations and experimental validation. We have detailed experience in electronics design and development including software and app development with complete data analytics capability. We also regularly participate in joint development programs, co-developing products with our customers.
Utilizing our extensive academic knowledge network, we frequently sponsor industrial projects and manage the work placement of undergraduates and postgraduates from leading universities.
Our extensive experience of qualifying new products for the harshest environments, ensures we are uniquely positioned to offer fully custom-designed testing to meet our customer’s individual requirements. This includes the development of bespoke test rigs to suit any application. To facilitate this, our in-house Innovation & Electronics Laboratories offer a wide range of services which includes; industrial additive manufacturing equipment, robotic inertial motion test rig, precision soldering, power characterisation, sensor testing, strain gauging, temperature control, load monitoring, wet testing, pressure mapping, friction testing and data acquisition. We work externally with class leading test facilities to provide hydrodynamic qualification, full scale wet trials, fatigue trials and bespoke testing programmes.
