Trelleborg Exhibits Range of Topside and Subsea Solutions at UTC Bergen
Trelleborg’s offshore operation will present its extended range of topside and subsea applications, including its recently re-branded portfolio of thermal insulation materials, at the Underwater Technology Conference in Bergen, Norway.
Located on stand 16, the company will showcase a number of topside innovations, including its deluge and sprinkler system, Elastopipe®, as well as advancements in its popular corrosion protection solutions. Taking center stage will be Trelleborg’s portfolio of thermal insulation solutions, Vikotherm™; specifically its high performance Vikotherm™ R2 material.

Trelleborg’s Vikotherm™ range has recently been re-branded to consolidate all of the company’s thermal insulation materials under one brand portfolio. Vikotherm™ R2 is one of the solutions that will be presented on stand at UTC Bergen.
Vikotherm R2 consists of a three-layer coating system which provides total protection against corrosion and hydrogen induced stress cracking (HISC). Its seawater, impact and creep resistance means that it offers excellent thermal insulation properties. The material is suitable for jumpers and spool pieces, tie in spools, manifolds, subsea trees, risers and flowlines, joints, insulation covers and many more applications.
In addition, Trelleborg’s Elastopipe®, a corrosion-free alternative to carbon steel deluge systems made from synthetic rubber, will also be on stand. Developed in Norway, Trelleborg’s Elastopipe® Fire Resistant (FR) and Elastopipe® Fire and Oil Resistant (FOR) solutions have been awarded a certificate for meeting the USCG’s approval for fire endurance standard of level 3 (L3) and level 3 wet/dry (L3 W/D).
With the ability to withstand jet fires with a heat flux of 390 kW/m2, temperatures above +2552 °F / +1400 °C and flame speeds that exceed the speed of sound, this system offers a substantially superior performance to its alternatives. The system has been successfully installed by Trelleborg all over the world.
