Trelleborg Qingdao celebrates 10-year anniversary with renaming to reflect offering evolution

Trelleborg Qingdao, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary since its inception, has long supported the operation’s commitment to developing innovative, cost-effective solutions that enhance safety, efficiency and sustainability. Therefore, it is with great delight that the facility has officially been renamed Trelleborg Marine Engineering (Qingdao) Co. Ltd, to reflect the evolution of its operations.

The renaming of Trelleborg Qingdao demonstrates a greater alignment with the operation’s ever-widening scope and business development. Trelleborg Marine Engineering (Qingdao) Co. Ltd will serve the growing number of domestic sales of marine products in the Chinese marine market.

Upon opening in 2009, Trelleborg Qingdao (formerly Trelleborg Engineered Systems (Qingdao) Co. Ltd) specialized in the development of polymer-based solutions for infrastructure projects, including fender systems for harbors and dredging hoses. However, in 2018 the 40,883 m2 manufacturing facility and sales office was integrated with Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation. With approximately 230 employees, the facility now supports the operation’s marine fender, marine technology and infrastructure product areas across Chinese markets.

Our operations in Qingdao play an integral role in our ability to power progressive performance in marine fenders, marine technology and infrastructure solutions in a sustainable way across the Chinese markets and beyond. The name change reflects exactly that and highlights Qingdao’s strategic importance to our business.

Celebrations for the facility’s 10-year anniversary took place on Thursday, 26th September 2019. Around 20 figures from across the Business Unit, as well as Trelleborg’s CEO, Mr Peter Nilsson, joined the team in Qingdao for a day of internal presentations, awards and a factory tour, with a Beijing Opera performance at lunch, closing the day’s festivities. Mr Nilsson and myself, presented 19 employees with a Ten Years’ Service Award and five teams with a Continuous Improvement Award, respectively.
