Progressive ports have acknowledged that a digital mindset and smart technologies are now table stakes in preserving a competitive advantage. Of the many areas that can benefit from digitalization, the port and vessel interface is perhaps the one with the greatest potential. At Port Technology’s Smart Ports of the Future Conference Richard Hepworth, President at Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation, will deliver a presentation (6 November, 13:45 – 14:30) on the importance of capturing data from the critical events at the interface and its role in optimizing port performance.

The conference will take place from 4 - 6 November in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and will bring together representatives of global ports, terminals, and the entire supply chain to debate, share best practices, latest developments and to successfully propel the industry forward with digitalization.

SmartPort is an eco-system of integrated, intelligent assets which are equipped with sensors – including fenders, mooring equipment, ship performance and monitoring and navigation systems - throughout the supply chain, turning operational data into actionable insights to drive operational efficiencies for all parties at the interface. Unnatural events can be swiftly identified, and any accidents predicted and prevented.
