Collaborative expertise has created a range of Metalastik Airspring solutions which meet the stringent requirements of modern rail technology, particularly combining large horizontal displacements and low-frequency ride characteristics for both normal and emergency conditions. 

The potential of progressive force/displacement characteristics enable a stable vehicle performance to be achieved. The ability to accommodate high horizontal, torsional, and conical displacements make these Air Spring Systems ideal solutions on bolsterless bogie designs. They can of course be adapted to suit bolster arrangements. The inclusion of an air reservoir can simplify the total system integration of the vehicle.

Air Spring System

Air springs and/or air spring systems are used over the secondary spring range between the bogie and the car body, as resilient mounts for the car body. An air spring system usually consists of air spring bellows and a rubber-metal element serving as an auxiliary and/or emergency spring. Such a combination makes it possible to achieve a soft vertical and lateral suspension, thus decoupling the car body from the bogie. This also enables the bogie to steer in bends.
