Elastopipe™
The Elastopipe™ system is a patented piping system designed for deluge and sprinkler systems in harsh environments. Elastopipe is made of synthetic rubber and replaces rigid steel, titanium, copper nickel and fibre glass piping.
Elastopipe's unique features make it ideal in deluge and sprinkler systems on offshore oil and gas installations and ships as well as other hazardous environments. The Elastopipe™ system can be used to either partly or completely replace old systems.
Elastopipe™ is also an ideal solution for temporary deluge systems when high safety levels need to be maintained during modification work to existing systems. The flexibility of the system allows it to be moved and reused. This flexibility is also an advantage when designing fire water systems. Compared with rigid pipe systems, less construction drawings are required and the need for accurate measurements is reduced as the system can be designed and modified on site.
Metal corrosion can cause blockages in pipes and nozzles which can lead to shut down or at least a reduction in capacity, the Elastopipe system is recommended for use in fire water systems because the synthetic rubber from which it is made is non-corroding.
Elastopipe can withstand jet fires with a heat flux of 390kW/m2, temperatures above 1250°C and flame speeds which exceed the speed of sound. Elastopipe can withstand these conditions for 1 hour with no water in the pipe for the first five minutes.
