Lead-In Bend Assemblies

Lead-In Bend Assemblies
A Lead-in Bend assembly is an oversized bore bend stiffener with different sized colour-coded packers to suit numerous cable sizes

A Lead-in Bend (LB) assembly is an oversized bore bend stiffener with different sized colour-coded packers to suit numerous cable sizes. It is used as an attachment point on seismic survey cables for towing applications. The assembly protects the cable from overbending by increasing the local stiffness of the cable at the attachment point.

An LB Assembly allows for assembly over a pre-terminated cable. It is generally used on seismic survey lead-in cables and to attachment towing chains, paravane type diverters or flotation. It is used by seismic survey vessels, mainly for 3D applications and ocean bottom cable systems as an attachment point for anchor/clump weight.

Advantages:

  • LB assemblies have no metallic components in contact with the cable due to PU clamp lining, thus reducing the chance of cable damage or corrosion
  • High grip capacity on lead-in cable makes and ideal attachment for a diverter/tether head
  • Available either connector or cable mounted and can be repositioned as required
  • Suitable for spooling with a variety of yoke attachment point options available

Scope of supply: Cable sizes 25 to 90mm / Axial tensions 1-20 tonnes
