Flotation/Towing Boot

Flotation/Towing Boot
The flotation boot is generally used where a seismic lead-in cable must be linked at intervals to a parallel tow wire

The flotation boot features a friction grip clamp with integrated bend stiffeners to control cable curvature. It provides a safe and convenient coupling to a sheathed or armoured towed cable at mid length.

The flotation boot is generally used where a seismic lead-in cable must be linked at intervals to a parallel tow wire, or where floats are attached at certain points along a heavy tow cable to protect against over-bending and chaffing.

Advantages:

  • Fully split design allows installation after termination of the umbilical/flowline and repositioning
  • Fully spoolable with the bridle/yoke removed

We supply for cable sizes ranging from 10 to 50m with a maximum axial load 0.5 to 2kN

We also supply a larger version of the above for cable sizes 10 to 50mm with a maximum axial load 2 to 20kN.
