Dynamic Bend Stiffener

Dynamic Bend Stiffener
A fully engineered solution to protect umbilicals or flexible Riser in demanding applications

Engineered Solution

Dynamic Bend Stiffeners are a fully engineered solution to protect umbilicals, Flexible Risers and subsea cables in demanding applications where a long service life is required. Bend stiffeners are manufactured for your project only after detailed engineering.  They are moulded using a proprietary process from specifically formulated polyurethane. The exact materials used have been specifically developed, qualified and tested for this application with units in service, trouble free, for many years.

Dynamic flexible risers, flowlines, power cables and umbilicals may be connected to a rigid structure such as a subsea riser base or the turret exit of a floating production vessel. The presence of environmental loads will subsequently cause the 'riser' to flex about this fixed location. The flexing in combination with large axial loads may cause damage to the riser structure due to over bending and fatigue. An integral bending stiffener fitted to the riser end fitting will prevent such structure damage.

The dynamic bend stiffener protects the riser MBR under defined tension/angle combinations.

Key Features:
  • Local stiffness added to the umbilical/riser will limit bending stresses and curvature to acceptable design levels
  • The bend stiffener is manufactured encapsulating a  steelwork which is designed to interface with its connecting structure and provide a suitable load path to dissipate energy

We specifically tailor each dynamic bend stiffener to suit individual project and riser requirements using specifically written software for design.
