On December 6, Trelleborg Group inaugurated a newly constructed manufacturing facility in Querétaro, Mexico, to manufacture high-performance automotive components such as transmission and steering gear thermoplastic boots for passenger cars. The facility is part of the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions business area.
The investment is part of Trelleborg’s continued long-term strategy to invest in markets with favorable growth potential. Using proven leading-edge manufacturing processes the site, which covers a total of 1000 square meters/ 3300 square feet, will produce automotive CVJ and rack & pinion boots. The production capacity from this state-of-the-art production unit will serve the needs of Trelleborg’s existing and future tier one and original equipment manufacturers within the American automotive markets.

Hector Angeles, Manager of the manufacturing facility in Mexico, says: “The Mexican facility will serve customers both near and far. The intention is to develop a Central American automotive boots hub that will service both North and South America. Querétaro was carefully selected for our manufacturing site as it is one of the fastest growing automotive clusters in Mexico.”
The inauguration on December 6 was attended by guests from all over the world, including representatives from customers, personnel from the facility’s supply base, along with key members of the local authorities, the Mexican government, and management and personnel from Trelleborg.

The facilities develop and manufacture a broad range of Trelleborg’s engineered products and solutions based on polymer technology. Trelleborg has above 400 employees in Mexico and sales in 2015 amounted to about 205 million SEK (approximately 21 million USD).
