Mine Shaft Closing Bladder

Mine Shaft Closing Bladder

To protect personnel performing repair work in mining shafts from falling rocks, a wooden bulwark or similar protective device is typically installed overhead. The mine shaft closing bladder is lifted into place and inflated which quickly and effectively seals the area from falling matter.

It is often a difficult task to fit protective devices into the irregular contours of a mine shaft, causing increased downtime to assemble and dismantle these devices. The Trelleborg mine shaft closing bladder addresses these challenges by sealing mining shafts securely and conveniently.

The mine shaft closing bladder is constructed from abrasion resistant reinforced rubber. The unit is fitted with a metal top cover for lifting and a lower metal cover with connections for filling the unit with air. The assembly is lifted into place and inflated which quickly and effectively seals the area from falling matter.

The complete sealing of the shaft takes only a fraction of the time necessary to construct typical protective devices. The bladder is completely reusable and small enough, when deflated, to be easily stored and transported throughout the mine.
