"Being able to market high Environmental performance  - both for products and other areas - will be a competition advantage since most costumers will be interested to see that Trelleborg does well in many of these issues".

- Manager in Trelleborg AB -

Land use and biodiversity

The Group’s production plants are generally located in large or small industrial areas where operations cannot be considered to have a significant potential impact on biodiversity.

Trelleborg does not have its own rubber plantations, but purchases approximately 30,000 to 50,000 tons of natural rubber annually from suppliers mainly based in Southeast Asia.

Modern rubber plantations are monocultures, and as such have a negative effect on biodiversity in the local area. Traditional "jungle rubber" plantations, that allow jungle plants to grow among the rubber trees, are preferred from a biodiversity perspective.
