Emissions to air
• VOC emissions: 1,737 (1,256) tons
• VOC emissions/sales: 0.064 (0.046) tons/SEK M
In addition to energy-related emissions such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, 358 (257) tons, and nitrogen oxides, 57 (55) tons, emissions to air are primarily composed of volatile organic compounds, or VOC.
VOC emissions derive mainly from the use of solvent-based adhesives and the production of printing blankets. The trend in 2010 was negative, which was entirely attributable to a three-month period of technical disruptions in recycling equipment at the plant for printing blanket production in Shanghai, which has now been remedied. Multiple projects are ongoing to replace solvent-based products in several areas, with positive effects for both the environment and the work environment.
Neither emissions of ozone-depleting compounds or greenhouse gases other than carbon dioxide occur in amounts of material significance in the Trelleborg Group’s manufacturing processes.
Emissions of volatile organic compounds increased in absolute and relative terms: see the comment in the text above.
