Trelleborg’s manufacturing facility in Skelmersdale, England, recently took part in an employment skills initiative organised by the local Up Holland High School.
The event, which took place on Tuesday 28th June at the West Lancashire College, aims to provide 14 to 15 year old students with essential skills relating to job applications and interviews.
Paul Smith, Assistant Headteacher at the school explains, "Pupils took part in a 15 minute 'mock interview' which gave them a fantastic opportunity to practice some important life skills. Although they were a bit nervous, they learnt a lot and this will really help them when they have to apply for college courses, apprenticeships and jobs in the future. We are really grateful to local employers for helping us with this event."
Representatives from Trelleborg were Andrew Garside, Innovation & Engineering Director, and Andy Wood, HR Director at Trelleborg Offshore, who commented, “Both Andy Garside and myself thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the young people at the Mock Interview day at West Lancashire College.
Our participation was part of a wider commitment to influencing the development of skills and employability in West Lancashire as well as promoting the Trelleborg name to the engineers and chemists of tomorrow!”
The event was a complete success, with students gaining some invaluable experiences.
