Child Action Lanka planned a child project in Kelaniya, near Trelleborg’s facility in Sri Lanka. Trelleborg was looking for a suitable project to support in memory of Antonio Bianchi, an employee who passed away. The result was Antonio Bianchi’s House, which opened in September 2010, and conducts preschool education for thirteen local children whose families would not normally have been able to afford such an opportunity.
The center stands for teaching and individual support (many of the children lack stable homes), medical assistance and coaching in life skills including hygiene issues. The children go to school between 8.30 am and 12.30 pm, and are provided with breakfast and lunch. The plan is to expand operations to include even more children.
