SPM Load Monitoring
Single-point Mooring (SPM) load monitoring systems measure the load at the mooring bridle on a CALM bouy. Vessel masters and facility operators use the load information to assess the integrity of the mooring. This enables them to make informed decisions if any action needs to be taken.

Data from the load cell is relayed via a radio transmitter to a portable monitor on the vessel and a base station generally located in the facility office. The transmitter is powered by batteries, which are recharged through solar panels.
The load monitoring software will display the hawser loads both numerically and graphically on the base station, and numerically on the hand-held unit. Battery power and solar readings are also displayed on the base station.
The Trelleborg system has been designed for both single and dual CALM buoy mooring hawsers.
