Locks and Drydocks
Approach manoeuvres to locks and drydocks can be difficult. Protecting ships from damage on exposed corners places large demands on the fenders, particularly on locks with width limitations. Large longitudinal speeds can generate big shear forces that need considering early in the design process. Many drydocks need fenders which are gentle on newly painted hulls.
