FAQ
Most of the content of material is natural fillers such as chalk, clay and kaolin. The rubber polymers are synthetic.
Yes, Trelleborg Rubber Flooring is very stain resistant due to the very high chemical resistance of the rubber. See our
Chemical Resistance list [pdf ]for further details.
Rubber is very difficult to bond to adhesives. Normally it's hard to install conventional rubber flooring with water-based acrylic adhesives due to poor bond between the rubber and the adhesive. With the Trelleborg felt backing you can use most water-based adhesives with very good bond and end result.
Trelleborg Rubber Flooring has a high resistance to scuff marks. A neutral detergent will remove most of heel scuffs. If needed use a solvent like white spirit.
Rubber, unlike PVC and linoleum does not shrink after installation and therefore does not need any hot- or cold welding of the seams. However, Trelleborg Rubber Flooring offers a wide range of colour matched hot welding rod for our smooth flooring. The main reason for welding is that you get a watertight seam or in health care applications were hygiene regulations specify welded seams. The welding rod can also be used as a design element.
The standard range of Checker and Checker Stud has an electric resistance of > 10
10 and is to be considered electrically insulating. We have a black antistatic quality (material 2394) in both Checker and Checker Stud.
Trelleborg Rubber Flooring has a high Static Coefficient of Friction according to EN13893. See
EN13893 [pdf] for further details.
Yes, Trelleborg Rubber Flooring is not affected by cigarette burns. Concentrated detergents or solvents can easily remove the tar residues on the surface.
Yes. The maximum permitted surface temperature is 27° C.
See our
Installation Instructions for details. In most cases and if the sub flooring doesn't demand other adhesive solutions, water-based acrylic dispersion is the adhesive to use.
Trelleborg Rubber Flooring can be installed on concrete, timber, stone and many other sub-floors, which have been suitably prepared. Existing resilient floors must be removed and the sub-floor relevelled. Refer to the Sub Floor Preparation in our
Installation Instructions for further details.
A typical Trelleborg Rubber Flooring installation will cost a little more than a quality PVC floor, but the life cycle cost of a Trelleborg Rubber Flooring is significantly less than any other competitive material. Due to its high durability and the floors natural aging, the need for surface treatment decreases with time. This and the speed of cleaning and the very long life of the floor provide rubber flooring with a good total economy.
No. Due to the high flexibility and slip resistance of the rubber material all the torque from the turning wheels of the forklift is transmitted to the sub-flooring and the bond between the sub-flooring and the adhesive will break.
We do not recommend our products for commercial kitchens due to the risk of heavy exposure to fat, oils and grease.
No. The material is PVC-free and contains no other halogen compounds.
