Most countries are increasing the priority of environmental issues on their agendas. The effects and the internationalisation of this distinct trend are increasing. At Trelleborg, we are following the changes in the surrounding world from a far-sighted, strategic perspective and our company is continually adapting to the demand of our customers and to society's views on environmental issues.

The Trelleborg Group consider the environment as a central issue and it is taken very seriously. We work with environmental improvements systematically.

An example of this is our environmental management system. An environ- mental management system according to the specifications in ISO 14001 or EMAS shall be adopted by the industrial plants and appropriate sectors of the distribution operations of the Trelleborg Group.

The flooring products from Trelleborg Rubber Flooring are declared according to ISO 14021, self-declared environmental claims, and GBR's (Swedish Flooring association) description of goods.

Our aim is to contribute to a sustainable development, i.e. to meet the needs of a healthy environment and the wellbeing of people today without jeopardizing the lives of future generations.

The Trelleborg Group has a chemical committee inspecting all new chemicals purchased within the Trelleborg Group. The committee consists of chemists, doctors and safety representatives for environment, external as well as internal.

Why is Trelleborg Rubber Flooring good for the environment?

• Our flooring is halogen free, contains neither HA-oil nor phtalates. Most of the content of the material is natural fillers such as kaolin and chalk. Our flooring contains no heavy metals (as Pb, Cd).

• Rubber is very difficult to bond to adhesives. Normally it is difficult to install conventional rubber flooring with water based acrylics due to poor bond between the rubber and the adhesive. With the Trelleborg felt backing you can use most water based floor adhesives with very good bond and end result.
