New tooling board for composite tool manufacturers
Trelleborg has added to its extensive range of tooling boards with the introduction of TB400 and now provides the complete range of performance and cost options for composite tool manufacturers. Following an intensive research program, the new tooling board has been introduced to supplement the existing range by providing a low density and cost effective board.

TB400 offers the ability to process epoxy tooling prepregs on a lower cost basis than ever before and guarantees the safety margin of the epoxy/epoxy interface by removing the uncertainty often encountered when using PU boards.
With a low density of just 400 kg per cubic meter (25lbs per cubic foot) and an exceptionally low coefficient of thermal expansion, TB400 offers a high heat distortion temperature, excellent dimensional stability and exceptional machining and finishing characteristics.
The lightweight board results in safer handling within the working environment. For example a standard 4 in thick 5ft x 2ft (10cm x 152cm x 61cm) board has a nominal weight of only 84 lb (38 kg) compared with 141 lb (64 kg) for a standard epoxy board – a saving of some 55 lb (25 kg) per board.
With exceptional machining and finishing characteristics, the material is easy to cut and hand carve. The TB400 can be easily laminated and finished using standard epoxy board bonding, sealing and finishing materials. TB 400 is available in standard sizes of 5ft x 2ft (150cm x 60cm) at 2, 4, 6 and 8 inch (50, 100, 150 and 200cm) thicknesses.
