SmartDock® Laser
SmartDock® Laser systems use highly accurate laser sensors to measure vessel approach and docking.
Lasers offer the most reliable technology available for fixed installations such as oil, gas and bulk marine terminals. Lasers will function in poor visability, including heavy rain or fog, and are eye-safe to the hghest FDA class-1 standard.
Once installed at the berth, SmartDock® Laser systems require no additional set-up and will provide years of trouble free service with only minimal maintenance.
SmartDock® DAS is a fixed system designed to measure the distance and angle of a docking ship in the critical range of 200m to 0m from the berthing (Fender) line. SmartDock® DAS is often specified as part of a full integrated system at oil, gas and large bulk berths.
The data provided to jetty operators, pilots and ship masters is used to prevent over-speed and large angle approaches, allowing early corrections to the manoeuvre long before a potential accident situation arises. Data is displayed on a large, jetty mounted display board.
SmartDock® DAS can be switched to drift-off mode when the ship is moored. At a preset distance from the berthing line, alarms are raised on the jetty and ship. On oil and gas jetties this provides added protection for the loading arms. SmartDock® DAS is available in either hazardous or non-hazardous zone configuration.
Trelleborg's innovative Smartdock® LITE is a portable docking aid system that uses lasers mounted on tripods to measure the distance between the jetty and the vessel.
Unlike most laser-based DAS, the laser units are not permanently fixed to the jetty and can be safely stored away when not in use. Smartdock® LITE (Laser-based, Integrated, transportable, Economical) is ideal for locations where installing additional equipment to support laser sensors is either impractical or uneconomical. It is ideally suited to use at continuous wharfs or for occasional use to assist in docing larger ships.
