LNG & Oil Terminals

LNG & Oil Terminals

Safety is critical in gas and oil terminals. Every stage of vessel approach, docking, mooring, cargo transfer and departure demands close control and monitoring to prevent an accident.

Older facilities can often be upgraded to cope with bigger ships, larger berthing energies and mooring loads.

  • Need to avoid fire hazards from sparks or friction
  • Approach speeds should be carefully monitored
  • Large mooring forces possible from wind and currents
  • Vessels require very low hull contact pressures
  • Coastal tankers may berth without tug assistance
  • Manifolds not necessarily at midships position
  • Facilities often designed for a single class of ships
