Cruise Ships

Cruise Ships

Cruise ships have increased in size over recent years. Their high freeboard and shallow draft makes them difficult to manoeuvre in strong winds.

Many cruise ships have white hulls so non-marking fenders are essential. Big bow flares and beltings should also be considered during the fender design stage.

  • High freeboard makes manoeuvres difficult in windy conditions
  • White or light coloured hulls are easily marked
  • Flared bows are prone to strike shore structures
  • Require low hull contact pressures unless belted
