Properties


A rubber plug is a machine building element used for sealing openings:

  • ends of pipes and holes in plates or sheets
  • also oval and other non-circular forms
  • plugs for holes in sheets usually have a groove that matches the thickness of the sheet and secures the plug in the hole

Stoppers and base plugs are used to receive impacts; they are of bulky rubber. Common application is stoppers for outer doors.

Materials

  • NR rubber. Natural rubber, high ductility and wearing strength.
  • NBR rubber. Nitrile rubber, high resistance to oil.
  • EPDM rubber. Excellent weather, ozone and light resistance. High heat resistance.
  • CR rubber. Chloroprene rubber, high ozone resistance and weather resistance, moderate resistance to oil.
  • TPE, thermoplastic elastomer. The tpe materials used by Mar-Con are SEBS based. Excellent weather, ozone and UV resistance. Different colors can be produced easily.
  • Electricity-conducting material also available.
