Bridges - Bearings, Joints

Due to wind, temperature differences and brake forces a bridge moves and therefore requires flexible supports and joints. Since a century rubber or elastomeric bearings are applied to transfer vertical load in combination with shear flexibility. As the length of a bridge deck changes as a result of temperature differences flexible road joints, so called expansion joints, are required. Trelleborg manufactures and supplies these expansion joints under the trade name Transflex.
