Product Development

Although the Cushyfloat™ was originally developed over 20 years ago, we are continuing to expand this product range to match engine and application developments. Having established ‘standard’ and ‘high thrust’ options, our latest design takes into consideration the delicate balance required to isolate small engines (2 or 3 Cylinder) whilst maintaining thrust and movement control.

At the beginning of this year prototype designs of a High Deflection (HD) Cusyfloat mounting were developed. The design is effectively very soft vertically and laterally to optimise the achievable isolation. There is an integrated failsafe mechanism for extreme tensile load conditions. Initial trials on a lightweight 3 cylinder engine have already shown that 98% isolation at 800 rpm idling speeds  can be achieved, whilst still accommodating 360N propeller thrust per mount.

It is envisaged that this product can also be adapted for small excavator engines, mobile generators etc.

Shock Mountings
For many years the marine defence industry has demanded shock mountings which meet the following objectives:
  •  High static load capacity
  •  Low stiffnesses to give good vibration isolation
  •  Good acoustic characteristics
  •  Most importantly – large displacement capability under shock.

Our “D” and Super “D” mounts have enabled us to be the market leaders for many years with shock displacement capacity of up to 50 mm in all directions. We have now developed the next generation of mount which we have called the “DX mount.Key features are:

  • Modular design to accommodate variations in loads.
  • Customer specific fixing points
  • Improved acoustic performance associated with modular mounts (Patent P4118818)
  • Shock displacement up to 75 mm

This product has now been tested and approved to MIL standards. It is already UK MOD approved.

The classic ‘Vee’ Mount has been in use for over 10 years now, and provides excellent isolation and control, particularly on underfloor rail applications. The current product range has become very large primarily due to the development of polymer with high temperature performance, but also due to the number of different interface options requested by our customers.

Trelleborg Industrial AVS have now developed a new modular design which has optimised stiffness characteristics, but is far more adaptable to customer specifications with respect to interface fixings and integral buffering. The design enables significant reduction in auxiliary bracketry as well as lower vehicle life costs.
