Compound
The compound is used to manufacture the hose, certain types of reinforcement (rubber coated fabric) and the cover.
The compound is made of:
- elastomers: natural rubber, synthetic elastomers,
- vulcanization system: vulcanizing agent (sulfur), activators, accelerators,
- reinforcing fillers: carbon black, silica, ...
- inert fillers: chalks, ...
- protection agents,
- softeners: oil, ...
The proportion of each of these items will determine the characteristics of the resulting compound and also the properties (flexibility, resistance, etc.) of the hose.
