HPT™ Seals for Bayu Undan Project

Trelleborg's technology provides a SAFE platform for offshore venture

Trelleborg successfully supplied high performance technology (HPT™) pipe penetration seals, worth US$2m, to the Bayu Undan gas-recycling project.  The Bayu Undan field, discovered in 1995, is located in the central Timor Sea about 500km north-west of Darwin, Australia, and some 250km south of Suai in East Timor. 

Before any seals could be delivered, they first had to be specified.  And Trelleborg was able to provide an impressive list of reference projects, including a few for Phillips Petroleum - the Chief Unit Operator in Bayu Undan, and other oil companies, such as Shell, BP, Staoil, TotalFina Elf.

Trelleborg's pipe penetration seals are designed to withstand jet fire and hydrocarbon fire.  Jet fire is the toughest fire classification there is in the offshore world.  Besides meeting both jet fires and blast requirement, the seals provide flexibilty, impact and weather resistance, customization as well as quick and easy installation
