Corrosion Protection

The fighting of all kinds of severe corrosion has been Trelleborg's business for many decades. Rubber is chemically resistant to most corrosive liquids, gases, salt water, ozone and UV light commonly met within industry, shipping and offshore. Where steel is exposed to corrosion, it can be protected with a rubber coating. Because of its elasticity and strength, rubber wears extremely well. It provides excellent protection for steel and other materials against sharp and abrasive particles, both when such particles are in the form of solids and when they are in suspension.
This special rubber coating supplies a proven protection for the riser pipes in the most corrosive area - the splash zone of the jacket. The coating is flexible, highly resistant to abrasion, oxidation, seawater ingression, all weather conditions and impact damage. Special anti-fouling coatings can be integrated in the rubber to prevent marine growth.

In addition to the coating of the individual riser pipes and bends, Trelleborg also supplies special ribbed coatings for the riser clamps or guides in the jacket. These fix and support the pipes with allowance of movement necessary for such a steel construction.
