Marine Fenders

Good fendering is crucial for the safe berthing of ships and efficient port operations.

Fentek is Trelleborg's specialist fender division dedicated to providing tailor-made fendering solutions from the simplest rubber profiles to the world's most sophisticated systems. Whatever the application, Fentek can assist with every aspect from initial calculations and fender selection through to detailed design and installation support.

Trelleborg manufactures a very comprehensive range of rubber fenders for docks, harbours, tugs and ships.

Super Cone Fenders
Super Cones are the latest generation of "cell" fenders, combining excellent energy capacity with low reaction force to give the most efficient of all fender types. The Super Cone's unique geometry has never been equaled for strength, stability and angular performance.

Integral overload stops are available as an option and make the Super Cones almost impossible to damage, even in the most severe conditions. With sizes from 300mm to 2000mm and a large choice of rubber grades, Super Cones are suitable for nearly all fender applications.

Unit Element Fenders
Unit Elements are high performance, modular fenders which can be combined in limitless permutations of length, orientation and Energy Index to suit a wide variety of applications - from simple V-fenders to large and sophisticated systems.

The simple but functional shape of Unit Elements provides a small footprint allowing compact designs where space is limited. The choice of fixing methods (symmetrical and asymmetric bolting) allows engineers even more flexibility with their designs.

Arch Fenders
Trelleborg Arch Fenders have been consistently popular for many years and the latest AN and ANP profiles combine the immense strength and ruggedness designers have come to enjoy, now with even better efficiency and angular performance.

The AN-series Arch has a rubber face and is ideal for all general purpose fender applications. The ANP-series has an encapsulated steel head plate with bolting points to allow fixing of low-friction face pads or a steel panel. Corner Arch fenders are also available.

Floating Fenders

Users have the choice of both pneumatic and foam core fenders, according to preference and application. All Trelleborg Floating Fenders share a strong, reinforced outer skin with optional chain and tyre nets for very severe applications.

Pneumatic Fenders are available in a choice of operating pressures for different, even adjustable performances.

Foam Fenders are unsinkable with their closed-cell polyurethane core and can be supplied in different colours including orange and navy grey.

Cylindrical Fenders

Trelleborg Cylindrical Fenders have protected ships and wharves for decades. They are simple to install and operate which makes these units an economic solution for remote locations and on multi-user berths where vessel types cannot always be predicted.

Available in sizes from 100mm to 2700mm diameter and in almost any length, Trelleborg Cylindrical Fenders can be supplied with various fixing systems to suit different structures and application.

Cell Fenders
Trelleborg SCK Cell Fenders are being used as an alternative to our "Cone" Fenders, add on to our existing range of fenders allowing more variety.

Available in sizes from 400mm to 3000mm and a large choice of rubber grades, used in conjunction with steel frontal panels.

Shear Fenders
Trelleborg Shear Fenders provide omni-directional performance combined with linear load characteristics. They are simple in concept, easy to install and are ideal for lower energy applications.

Shear Fenders are used in conjunction with piles or simple frontal panels of steel or timber.

Wheel & Roller Fenders
Trelleborg Wheel & Roller Fenders help vessels to manoeuvre into berths and narrow channels, especially at lock or dry dock entrances and exposed berth corners.

Wheel Fenders have a sliding axle with rear idler rollers to absorb the greatest possible energy.

Roller Fenders have a fixed axle making them ideal for the walls of docks and locks.

All Trelleborg Wheel & Roller Fenders benefit from zero maintenance composite bearings and rugged steel casings which can be easily adapted where customers have special mounting requirements.

HD-PE Sliding Fenders
Trelleborg HD-PE (High Density Polyethylene) Sliding Fenders are extruded profiles, often used on waterways and other areas as an alternative to timber.

Sliding Fenders are grain-free so they will not splinter or crush. All grades are free from rot, will not decay and can usually be recycled at the end of their useful life.

Extruded Fenders
Trelleborg Extruded Fenders are simple, constant cross-section profiles used for a variety of general purpose applications. They are available in many different shapes and sizes, though D-type and Square with "D" or circular bores are the most common.

Available in long or short lengths, Extruded Fenders can be cut, drilled and even pre-curved.

Composite Fenders
Trelleborg Composite Fenders are ideal for protecting smaller jetties or can be fitted directly to workboats. They combine the dual benefits of an energy absorbing rubber body with integrally vulcanised UHMW-PE face in a single moulded product.

The special manufacturing technique forms a permanent bond between the two materials, eliminating the need for mechanical fixings and giving much greater wear allowance from the facing. As with Extruded Fenders, Composite Fenders can be provided drilled, cut to length and with a variety of fixing systems.

Tug Fenders
Trelleborg Singapore manufactures a full programme of fenders for tugs and workboats suitable for the harshest operating environments. Tugs may be fitted with up to 4 types of fenders - each serving a particular function:

(1) Cylindrical Fenders
Cylindrical fenders with optional circumferential grooves are made in sizes up to 1000mm diameter and in very long lengths to protect the bow and stern of tugs.

(2) Pushing Fenders
M-type, W-type and Keyhole Block Fenders provide a large contact surface for low hull pressures, with flat or grooved face depending on the level of grip required.

(3) Side Beltings

D-type, Square and Wing-D Fenders are often used as side beltings to protect the vessel during escort duties and when coming alongside.

(4) Transition Blocks
Transition Blocks are used to provide a smooth interface between side beltings and bow/stern fenders.

Corner Protection

M-type, W-type and Block Fenders are also useful for corner protection on jetties and pontoons.
