Suction Hoses and Sleeves
The suction hoses can be fitted with any of the different types of
flanges that Trelleborg supplies. Commonly used are the rubber flange with steel backing and the Double Action® flange. They can be supplied in any size, and depending on the type of application, with 100% vacuum capability and high implosion pressures.
For use with gimbals and in the ladder of cutter dredgers, small bending radius suction hoses can be supplied. Trelleborg has recently delivered suction hoses for the largest trailing suction hopper ever built.
In some applications, heavy-duty spring steel spirals are used to prevent the hose from kinking. Trelleborg does not use ordinary (thus cheaper) galvanized wire for suction hoses as ordinary wire cannot cope with the high dynamic loads, which occur when the suction pipe gets obstructed. Trelleborg's spring steel spirals absorb these peak loads without the risk of collapsing.
Heavy-duty and big bore suction hoses come equipped with rigid steel rings. This allows for smooth bending of the hose.
