Modern "stealth" technology uses resin systems that incorporate hollow glass microspheres as part of the advanced composites and radar absorbing materials used to fabricate the external skins of the aircraft.

The composite panels perform by reducing the passive and active detectability of aircraft via radar, infrared or acoustic technologies.

For passive detection methods, microballoon based products perform by decreasing radiant "noise". For active detection methods, the glass sphere filled systems decrease target "strength", increase sonar performance (less vibration effect) and present an improved signal-to-noise ratio for sensors seeking to track aircraft.

Trelleborg acoustic stealth cladding solutions are also being offered to shipbuilders and navies throughout the world as part of functionally enhanced polymer composite products, systems and services.
