Daniel Gené Peres
Daniel Gené Peres has a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University Rovira I Virgili (Tarragona-Spain). He also spent 9 months in Scotland as Erasmus student and he got a Bachelor in Chemical Engineering from the University of the West of Scotland (UK). In addition, he did an internship in the company Repsol-YPF (Tarragona-Spain).
His career ambitions include gaining knowledge and experience in the rubber field to get an important position in the Trelleborg organization, and creating a big network inside the company.
“The project that I am most involved during my time as trainee is called the Unica New Line Validation”, says Daniel. The main goal of this project is to validate and approve several compounds that the Spanish supplier Unica provides the Trelleborg group.
“It is a very interesting project, because I follow the compounds being mixed in the plant until they are validated or refused. This process includes registering the compounds, testing them by different methods and conditions, looking for different properties. It is very enriching and interesting to discuss the results with the material experts and gain knowledge about the main problems about the compounds and the actions to take to improve some properties and solve the processing problems.
“Finally the contact with the supplier is very important. After all the tests and reports I did, I spent some weeks in the supplier Unica (Spain) presenting the results of the project and arranging and scheduling further actions in order to improve the properties and processing of some compounds and discuss the main topics.”
What has he learned from the trainee program? “I have learned that after finishing university you really don’t know much. Situations are changing constantly and you have to adapt quickly. It is very important to create a good network in the organization. The contact, learning and recommendations of experienced colleagues are very valuable and helpful,” Daniel says.
In his free time, he loves to do sports, meeting friends to go out, travel and meet new people and follow the matches of his favorite football team: Barçaaa!
