Erosion Protection Material
Specified for leading edge of both Fixed Wing and Rotary aircraft applications. Erosion protection material can also be used on modern composite constructions as well as the more traditional wooden propeller blades. Also used in Hovercraft applications where the ‘salt and sand’ environment is extremely harsh and can cause rapid wear problems on inadequately protected surfaces.
These materials are specifically formulated to withstand extremely harsh conditions while offering the required protection to the substrate. They offer high resilience, excellent tear resistance and tear propagation resistance, and have extremely low compression set and very low abrasion loss. The parts are available in either a cast sheet formulation or a bespoke moulded part. We work on CAD (Solidworks) and can read most CAD type drawings to ensure parts are manufactured to aerospace required tolerances.
Erosion material technology can be applied in environments which are extremely hostile such as the handling of sand and gravel. For high wear areas Trelleborg can design and manufacture a wide range of solutions.
