Eccospheres® Product Customisation
In addition to offering a range of engineered products, AEM Product Group will customise or develop new products according to customers' requirements. Properties such as density, collapse pressure and packing factor can be altered, resulting in a unique engineered microsphere. We also have the capability to surface treat microspheres with either silanes or even metallic coatings and can offer a vast improvement in packing factor by the introduction of binary systems.
We have developed specialised coating techniques, which have resulted in a new generation of high performance microspheres, aimed at markets such as aerospace, water treatement and cosmetics. By coating the microspheres with titania, copper, silver or nickel and maintaining the low density exhibited by the microspheres, the following physical properties can be achieved:
- Magnetic
- Super paramagnetic
- Flourescent
- Conductive
- Radar absorbent
- Chelating
We offer technical assistance and expertise in achieving an optimum product.
Various other coatings may be applied to Eccospheres® glass microspheres which improve the interfacial bonding between the glass and resin. Such treatments result in improved properties in the finished product. Standard silane coatings include:
- S1 - N-Phenyl Amino
- S2 - Epoxy Functional
- S3 - Alkyl Chloro Functional
- S4 - Alkyl Amino Functional
These are effective in most polymer systems, however other surface treatments will be considered.
Eccospheres® glass microspheres offer a minimum packing factor of 62%, this can be increased up to 70% dry by the blending of 2 grades of microspheres, each having a very narrow particle distribution curve. Binary systems are tailored to the requirements of each customer.
A certificate of conformance is supplied as standard. Additional specified product testing of physical properties, such as packing factor, sieve analysis, isostatic collapse pressure, pH, moisture and sinkers are available on request.
