Jesper Lublinkhof runs a farming and milling operation in Southern Province, Zambia, not far from Kafue. He is a second-generation Dutch immigrant specializing in coffee beans, wheat and soy. Most of his land is a very fertile soft soil called Black Cotton Soil, he prefers Trelleborg tyres for ideal performance on his operations.
Zambian soil provides all the necessary nutrients for a good yield, but it comes with a downside: the soil is extremely soft. To the point that your shoe will sink into dry soil at least three centimeters. Take this situation to any farming operation and you would find yourself in a bit of a riddle.
In fact, this is how Jesper approached Trelleborg. “I have severe rutting problems where I run my center pivots”. Mubuyu farm has eight center pivots irrigating its fields, and at different extents, they are scarred with ruts created by the standard cross ply tyres mounted on the pivots from the factory.
Jesper is now using Trelleborg TM700 420/70R24 on his newest pivot @ 10 PSI (0,8 bar) giving a total footprint of 2,058 cm2, 62% more than the standard tyres.
The lower pressure and bigger footprint is only part of the reason why TM700 is giving optimum results.
Thanks to the advance self cleaning technology, the center pivot can run smoothly without collecting soil as it moves avoiding any damage to the drive train of the pivot.
Jesper is now ordering his new pivots with Trelleborg tyres as he trusts it will give him the best results.
